Birthday Blues

Today is my birthday. I had hoped to have an awesome post for Red and Black Week full of the roses of Longwood Gardens to finish out the week, but alas it was not to be. The rose arbors were bare! Only one shrub rose was in bloom, and a few in the conservatory.

We got a call from our pet sitter just as we arrived at Alex’s parent’s lake house to head to a birthday dinner-Baby wasn’t eating. So Dana rushed her to the vet and we jumped back in the car to head home.

She has an upset tummy and we will be treating that. But her kidney levels are high. Gods, but I hate those words! She’s getting fluids every day and an antibiotic and we are going to hope it’s nothing serious and that they go back down. If not…we’ll take it from there.

Anyway, here are the photos I did take. My makeup and accessories are at least on-theme.

Not Snow White! Its Revlon's Velvet Crush line from a few years ago, in Blackmail. Its as beloved deep dark red. The necklace is old, from Avon. It came with a red velvet cord but it's too long for my liking.

Thanks again to Ms. Kitty for hosting Red and Black Week again this year. It was a lot of fun, and I have a lot of great blogs to check out. Hopefully next year’s finale will be on a happier note!!!

  1. I’m so sorry about your kitty! I hope she’s feeling better! ❤ Your makeup and accessories are stunning! 🙂

  2. You have my very best wishes for a good outcome with Baby. I seem to be the queen of major pet health crises these days, so I know too well how stressful it is. Just don’t let yourself worry about what-ifs (I speak from sooooo much experience here). It’s good you caught that there was a problem before it became an emergency; just deal with what her condition is today until you know for sure what you are facing.

May you get a Birthday Do-Over soon, when you can celebrate worry-free!

I hope everything will be ok with your cat and that you both can celebrate your birthday without worries.

  4. Beautiful photos! I love gardening and visiting conservatories. Your outfit is lovely, those sunglasses are awesome!
